Julie A. Mederos is one of the preeminent complex litigation attorneys in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex serving clients throughout the state of Texas and nationally. She has more than 20 years of experience representing companies and professionals in a broad range of complex civil litigation matters. Julie obtained a practical understanding of the financial constraints facing corporations in litigation budgeting and internal corporate pressures as the head of litigation for a large healthcare company. She is sought after due to the extensiveness and diversity of her successful trial experience. Julie is a frequent speaker at legal and medical conventions on a multitude of litigation, healthcare and employment topics. She has substantial experience in handling high exposure media and public relations issues involved in litigation.

Julie received a B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of California at Los Angeles, and her J.D. from Boalt Hall/University of California at Berkeley.

  • Successful appeals overturning trial court’s refusal to dismiss based on insufficient causation:
    • Covey v. Lucero, No. 05-16-00164-CV (Tex. App. – Dallas, 2016)(mem. op.)
    • McMillan v. Harris, No. 09-15-00466-CV (Tex. App. – Beaumont, 2016)(mem. op)
  • Represented insured physician interests for an insurance company in Fen-Phen Multi-District litigation
  • Defense verdict for a physician and corporation following a 5 week trial with a large life care plan for a severely compromised child
  • Defense verdict for my corporate client on an employment suit alleging sexual assault
  • Legal representation on health care regulations including EMTALA, HIPAA and HITECH
  • Jury verdict for client on allegations of Deceptive Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Act
  • Successfully resolved numerous DOL audits on various wage issues
  • Granted summary judgment on causation and Daubert issues in a wrongful death case
  • Obtained jury verdict for a client against an executive for misappropriation of corporate fundsSuccessfully tried a high damage medical negligence case on damages and achieved a verdict $2M less than the pre-trial demand and $400k less than the final pre-trial offer
  • Summary Judgment obtained based on failure to prove causation in a suit involving childhood vaccinations
  • Obtained a directed verdict for a physician and his employer on a professional liability case involving a permanently disfigured 12 year old child
  • Defense verdict for orthopedic surgeon on a high damages quadriplegia case
  • Defense verdict for the company against allegations of violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act following a worker’s compensation injury
  • Obtained directed verdict of all claims against the client on allegations of false imprisonment and professional liability negligence
  • Successfully settled a large class action alleging fraud against a corporation
  • Obtained voluntary dismissal on a large breach of contract suit with protracted litigation
  • Defense verdict after a lengthy wrongful death trial with non-economic damages exceeding $75M
  • Obtained a defense verdict against claims of professional negligence for failure to prevent suicide by a teenage patient
  • Successful settlement of pregnancy discrimination suit on court house steps
  • Represented health care company in a suit alleging over $200M in damages resulting in a successful settlement for six figures
  • Obtained numerous dismissals by enforcing statutory requirements for sufficient expert reports
  • Risk & legal review on the use of EHR, Diagnostic software and other healthcare technology
  • Obtained dismissal in large anti-trust litigation involving EOA government contracts
  • Brought suit against a large technology corporation for trademark infringement of my corporate client and obtained favorable settlement
  • Representation of physicians in connection with peer review proceedings as well as quality assurance litigation
